Devlog #16 October

This is the first devlog for Acornia: Mirror Worlds since its announcement at Gamescom!
In the meantime, we’ve shared a gameplay trailer… documentary thing? at the IGN Game Fest.
If you like it, don’t forget to add it to your Steam wishlist!
If that's got you hungry for more, here's a sneak peek at what we're still working on to get ready for the release!

For a long time, the golden acorns earned at the counter were the only measure of Alva’s success in her quest to revive the family bakery.
But money isn’t everything. Reputation matters too.
The shop’s reputation is a new system that works like experience points. You earn it in various ways: by helping townsfolk during quests, by completing cute furniture sets, but most of all by mastering recipes and offering a wide variety of dishes.

It offers a fresh perspective on shop management, where simply sticking to the same winning recipe is no longer enough to move forward in the adventure.
The gameplay becomes more varied, and exploration and collecting take on a whole new meaning.
This new system enriches the overall experience without taking anything away from the classic economy, which lets you buy items and ingredients or fund reconstruction projects.
Who knows what levels you’ll be able to reach, and what secrets you could uncover…

Alva's journey through Duramen, that strange parallel dimension, is marked by encounters with dangerous spirits.
Most of the time, she can defeat them without too much trouble. But sometimes, an especially powerful spirit crosses her path.
That's when an arena battle begins.
Arenas, whether found on the bark paths of the Tree or deep inside a dungeon, all work the same way.
Spirits with devastating powers appear and try to drive Alva out amid various obstacles, sometimes backed up by their underlings. They strike relentlessly.
If Alva emerges victorious, she claims the contents of a chest filled with rare treasures!
For the less battle-hungry among you, rest assured: you can flee an arena at any time. And who could blame you for feeling weak at the sight of an invincible Molarch or a Crumpex with deadly aim?

Perched among the branches of the Great Tree, Acornia owes all its charm to it. But who said we couldn't make it even cuter?
On top of furniture that makes the service more practical and pleasant, you can now get lovely decorations in a wide range of themes.
You can place them just about anywhere, from the walls of the shop to the edges of the Tree's wooded paths.

Some decorations are harder to find than others. That’s another reason for collectors to rejoice!

It's all well and good to collect cute furniture, but how do you know where to place it?
Before, it was hard to tell which spots could actually hold a piece of furniture. Now, when you try to place one, the grid mode activates. Outlines that look like they've been drawn with chalk appear, highlighting the designated spots.

Furniture automatically snaps to the grid, so you no longer have to worry about being off by a few millimeters.
The grid mode makes decorating the shop and the village much more enjoyable!

She grew up between two worlds: first in the shade of the farm's orchards, playing among the golden wheat; then in the city lights, dancing on balconies.
Disowned by her father, having barely survived the streets of the Capital, she eventually found success through her lute. The catchy yet melancholic tunes of this farmer-turned-city-girl charmed even a tough crowd, propelling her to superstar status.
One of her biggest fans even happens to be living in Acornia right now!

We can't say it enough: if you're interested in the project, it's available on the Steam wishlist!
