Devlog #6 - December

While Santa was getting ready for his worldwide gift delivery tour, the little elves of the Splashteam were hard at work, carefully carving the greatest tree of all.

Last month, we told you about the ruins of the Town Hall. Here's a sneak peek of what the inside will look like once rebuilt!

The Town Hall plays a key role, as it's where Alva can recruit and customize her employees. As the central building of the village, the Town Hall serves multiple purposes, but we'll let you discover those for yourself.

In any case, Drana will be there to make sure everything runs smoothly… with an iron fist. But we promise, she means well. She just has, let’s say, a very strong personality.

You can hear the ticking of the Town Hall’s clock when its theme plays!

Last month, we showed you the exterior of Lyra's house and some 2D concepts of the interior. Now, even the interior is fully modeled!

The yellow and orange crystals glow in the heart of the night. But what is that strange lantern sitting on Lyra's worktable?

You’ll be spending time outdoors, exploring the tree to uncover its secrets and interact with its inhabitants. The dynamic music will help make each expedition unique. For instance, here’s a variation of a gentle summer morning.

Summit Farm, the first dungeon of the game, is getting more and more complete. Many types of obstacles have been added! To navigate this maze of hay and wood, Alva will need to demonstrate agility. Here’s a little sneak peek!

We’ve also worked on specific special effects. There is a completion bar that fills as Alva progresses in a dungeon and that indicates how far she is from getting to the next room.

Dungeons are full of danger, fire and explosions. We’ve started improving on these kinds of effects as well as enemy destruction effects. Don’t worry, they’re spirits, it doesn’t actually hurt… we think.

Here are some new furniture set concepts! Alva will be able to craft some of them with the required blueprints, like the puffercow set. But others are just too hard to make! Stay tuned, we’ll discuss this in a later devlog.

And of course, for this holiday season, we couldn’t resist showing you this one!

Completionists will be thrilled to complete their furniture sets just to make their shop even more beautiful, but we’re also discussing their impact on gameplay. Will each piece provide different bonuses? Will they affect the customers or Alva herself? We’ll share the results of these reflections with you in a future update.

Drana is the mayor of the village and Alva’s grandmother. She ruled the village with an iron fist, but always with compassion, until the tree fell ill.

Her decision to evacuate the village broke her heart and strained her relationship with her daughter, a choice she must now live with.

Years of waiting in the capital haven’t dulled her determination, and she’s ready to do whatever it takes to help Alva restore the village. Nothing can stop her—not even her lumbago.

The entire team took a break between December 23rd and 29th. After all, the elves at Splashteam certainly deserve their gifts too! Some of us went skiing!

The co-founder of the studio is truly full of grace. What an inspiring vision!

The entire Splashteam wishes you a Happy New Year!

New year, new resolutions. Our management assistant has decided to take up crochet.

No sooner said than done, in just a few days, Gloutorax the Terrible was born.

It seems that the creature has broken free from its creator's control, and is now plotting a world domination plan from the top of its shelf. As I write these lines, I can feel its judgmental gaze sizing me up with an inquisitive look. It's... going to be fine.

We’ll keep working to bring you a fun game and have fun making it. Thank you all for following us. The year is off to a great start!

That's all for December!
